Auction rules & help
Plain-language rules for buying and selling at auction on UBevents246. By bidding or listing you agree to them, along with the marketplace rules and the site terms.
How bidding works
- You need a free UBevents246 account to bid. Sellers cannot bid on their own auctions.
- Each bid must be at least the next minimum bid shown: the starting bid if there are no bids, otherwise the current bid plus the seller's bid increment.
- All bids are checked by our server. The countdown on your screen is a guide; the server clock (Barbados time) decides when an auction ends and who won.
- A bid is a binding offer to buy at that price if you win. You cannot withdraw a bid once it has been accepted. If you made a genuine mistake, contact support straight away.
- Bidders are shown as "Bidder 1", "Bidder 2" and so on. Your name, email and phone are never shown to other bidders.
Automatic bidding (your private maximum)
- You can set a maximum. We then bid for you, only as much as needed to keep you in the lead, up to your maximum.
- Nobody, including the seller, can see your maximum. Bids placed for you appear in the history marked auto.
- If two bidders set the same maximum, the one who set it first stays ahead.
Reserve prices and Buy Now
- A seller may set a hidden reserve, the lowest price they will accept. The auction shows "Reserve not met" or "Reserve met". If bidding ends below the reserve the item is not sold and nobody has to pay.
- If your maximum reaches the reserve, your bid is raised to the reserve automatically.
- Some auctions offer Buy Now. It is only available until the first bid. Choosing Buy Now holds the item for you for 30 minutes while you pay. If you do not finish paying, the auction reopens and you cannot use Buy Now on it again.
Fair endings (anti-sniping)
- If a bid is accepted in the last 2 minutes, the auction is extended so it ends 2 minutes after that bid. This repeats for each late bid, so everyone gets a fair chance to respond.
- Bids that reach the server after the end time are not accepted.
Winning and paying
- The highest valid bid when the auction ends wins, as long as any reserve is met. We email the winner and the seller.
- Prices are in Barbados dollars. You pay the US dollar equivalent (BDS $2 = US $1) through UBevents246 checkout, using the payment methods shown there. PayPal and card payments include the processing fee displayed at checkout. There is no buyer's premium.
- You must pay within 48 hours of winning. We never charge a saved card automatically.
- If you do not pay in time, the win lapses and is recorded on your account. After 2 unpaid wins your bidding is paused until our team reviews it.
- If a winner does not pay, the seller may make a one-time second-chance offer to the next-highest bidder at that bidder's own highest bid. It is only an offer: the bidder can accept or decline, and it expires after 48 hours. Nobody is ever charged or declared a winner without accepting.
Collection and delivery
- After payment, the seller sees your order details and arranges pickup or delivery as described in the listing's "Delivery & terms" tab.
- Any delivery charge described by the seller is agreed and paid between you and the seller; it is not part of the auction payment.
- Meet in a public place for pickups and check the item before you leave.
Seller obligations and fees
- Only approved sellers can list auctions, and every new auction is checked by UBevents246 before it goes live.
- Describe the item honestly, with real photos of the actual item, including faults. One item per auction.
- You must sell to the winning bidder at the final price. Once an auction has bids, its prices, times and details are locked; you can only add a dated update to the description.
- You may cancel an auction only before it receives a bid. After that, only UBevents246 can cancel it, for a good reason, and all bidders are told.
- Listing is free. When an item sells and is paid, UBevents246 keeps its 10% marketplace commission, the same as the shop, and the rest goes to your seller earnings and payouts under the existing seller terms.
Not allowed
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives
- Drugs, cannabis products, prescription medicine
- Alcohol and tobacco sold to minors, or without the needed licence
- Stolen, counterfeit or replica goods
- Adult content or services
- Live animals (except through approved breeders, reviewed first)
- Personal documents, IDs, accounts, gift cards and money transfers
- Anything illegal in Barbados
- Counterfeit, replica or "inspired" branded goods.
- Shill bidding: bidding on your own auction, or asking friends, family, staff or other accounts to bid to push the price up.
- Fake or duplicate accounts, bid manipulation, or interfering with another member's auction.
- Arranging to complete an auction sale outside UBevents246 to avoid the rules or fees.
Investigations, cancellations and disputes
- We keep an audit record of every bid and auction change. We may review bidding patterns, for example bids from the same network as the seller.
- UBevents246 may suspend, cancel or remove auctions, and pause or close accounts, that break these rules. Bids on a cancelled auction are void.
- Problem with an item or a seller? Use "Report this listing" on the auction page or contact us through the site. We will look at the auction record, messages and order, and work with both sides. Refunds follow the store refund policy and the facts of each case.
- UBevents246 provides the auction platform and checkout. Items are sold by independent sellers; we do not run a buyer-protection guarantee.
Privacy and security
- Only your anonymous bidder label is shown publicly. The seller sees your details only after you pay, so they can fulfil the order.
- Keep your password private. Bids made from your account are treated as yours.
Questions? Contact UBevents246 through the Contact page. These rules may be updated; the version on this page applies to auctions starting after the change.
